The USA Patriots Softball Team is a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to inspire and educate others while enhancing the health and welfare of Wounded Warrior Amputees. The USA Patriots represents some of our nation’s bravest and most determined heroes, soldiers and veterans. These men and women have sustained severe injuries resulting in amputation, and through extensive rehabilitation, they have become competitive athletes again, playing against able- bodied teams in exhibition games across the country. Their armor now includes prosthetic legs and arms, along with extreme perseverance and attitude. In addition, the team host an annual Kids Camp where we bring in 20 children (between 8-12 years old) with amputations or loss of limbs for a week-long camp where our team members serve as coaches and mentors. The team pays the expenses for the 20 children and one parent/guardian. This is just one example of what makes them America’s Amputee Softball Team, and true USA Patriots.

NAGA currently has over 2,000 members in the United States and some 200 players from 17 other countries. In addition to its national tournaments and National Senior Championship, the NAGA sponsors local and regional tournaments throughout the country. Perhaps NAGA’s highest visibility occurred as a result of the highly popular First Swing Program which teaches adaptive golf to people with physical disabilities. Currently, over 30 clinics are held across the U.S. every year. The Golf for the Physically Challenged program has enabled many to realize first hand that they can play the game and have fun in an outdoor sport. To assist a growing number of physical, occupational, and recreational therapists, who realized the adaptability of golf as a rehabilitation medium, NAGA brought its First Swing program to hospitals and rehabilitation centers throughout the U.S. in 1989. Hundreds upon hundreds of amputees and physically challenged individuals have rediscovered their sense of personal pride through their participation in these NAGA golf programs.

Losing a limb is a life-changing event. It can cause grief, pain, and change the way you perceive yourself. Every loss is a loss and leads people to experience the five stages of grief: Denial & Isolation, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. Some may move through each stage quickly, while others get stuck, move through stages out of order, or skip stages altogether. It is important to know that everyone experiences grief in their own way and in their own time. Problems can arise when an individual is stuck. However, there are so many amazing resources out there to help anyone who is struggling. There is no shame in accepting help.

My name is Monica Prestridge. At four years old I lost my left leg below the knee in a lawnmower accident. I lived many years unconnected, HIDDEN, embarrassed, and without any resources.
A few years ago I connected with another amputee and it sparked something inside of me. For the first time in my life, I felt seen and valued as an amputee. I came alive and discovered a renewed HOPE that I knew God intended for me to share with others.
I began to stop looking at my disability as a setback or a hindrance and began to see it as an
opportunity to serve and minister to others.
With lots of prayer and lots of assistance, we founded Life Unlimbited, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to bringing connection, resources, and most of all HOPE to the limb loss and limb different community.

School Bus Bullying Prevention
You probably remember the predicament of school bus bullying well from your days at school. Maybe you were picked on while riding the bus, maybe you witnessed someone get bullied on the bus, or maybe you’re now a reformed school bus bully.
Whatever the case, you know that school buses are a common location for bullying to take place — and you’re probably concerned about how you can protect your child and their friends from the aftermath of school bus bullying. Here’s how parents, kids, bus drivers, and schools can work together to make the school bus bully-proof.

Service Animals
Service animals have a long history of providing various forms of support for those with disabilities, including limb loss or limb difference. The loss of a limb often creates challenges that require modifications to your everyday routine. However, a trained service animal can make daily needs that might be difficult, a little easier.

Today, placing approximately 100 dogs a year, 4 Paws For Ability is the largest organization whose primary mission is to place service dogs with children and one of the only organizations to have no minimum age requirements. We place almost every type of service dog available and never turn down a child who does not “fit” into one of the traditional service dog categories. Our Multipurpose Assistance Dog is a dog that encompasses all those children who do not fit into the traditional service dog types and/or who have disabilities that fit into more than one type of dog trained.

Freedom Service Dogs was founded in 1987 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization by Michael and PJ Roche. The Roches worked tirelessly to transform FSD from a local, two-person organization to one of the leading service dog training organizations in the country at a time when the assistance dog industry was in the early stages of development.
As FSD expanded, its leaders recognized a need for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan to have additional support as they entered civilian life, leading to the launch of Operation Freedom, a program that provides custom-trained service dogs to veterans with disabilities.
